This is a close up photo of a normal retina, showing the macula and optic nerve. This photo shows drusen in the macula.  This is a sign of macular degeneration.

The Optomap takes a laser scan image of a retina. This is an example of a normal Optomap.  It shows a 200 degree wide angle scan of the retina.This Optomap scan shows a hole in the peripheral retina.  This problem could lead to a retinal detachment.
